KY
12-4 PM
Construction:
Yes, this site is currently under construction. Please bear with
me while I iron out the many kinks. If you have any questions or
suggestions, please feel free to e-mail me.
T-shirts:
Yes, they are for sale. They are all printed
on American Apparel (sweatshop free and made in the U.S.), they come in
Men's and Women's. Each shirt is $20.00. If you want a long
sleeve or a hoodie, it will be more. I have not done the pay pal
thing yet, possibly in the future dependent on the response.
If you live in Louisville, we can set up an exchange. If
you are not in Louisville, e-mail me and we can work something out.
Statement:
I am working on it. So for now the down and dirty quick
version. I take images that I have seen and bury them under
patterns and sketches and figures and words that pop into my mind as I
look at those original images. After the original image is almost
completely covered (except for occasional windows showing it) I try and
pull the piece back together by laying down a top image that portrays
the journey the painting has taken me on. The result is a texture
filled chaos that seems to make sense.
Bio:
Jennifer Goodell (a.k.a. jengoodell) spent her
childhood in Huntington Beach, CA. By high school she'd moved to
Murray, KY where she later enrolled at Murray State University.
Here she discovered art. She played with various mediums,
but finally settled on surface design and weaving, with printmaking
running a close second in her studio time. She graduated
with a B.F.A. in 1999. Thanks to Murray State University's
wonderful art department and a brief adventure to Old Lyme Art Academy
in Connecticut she gained the tools to move forward with art.
After graduation, Jennifer returned to Southern
California where she worked for a time on costumes at California State
University--Northridge and at Universal Studios theme park. She
returned to Murray State University where she studied printmaking in
greater depth. Once satisfied, she moved to Louisville.
She has been living in Louisville for the last six
years working as a non-competitive gymnastic instructor to support her
artistic pursuits. Lately, those pursuits have been mainly
focused on oil painting and t-shirt design. She has shown her
work in a variety of locations including coffee shops, restaurants,
wineries, and various local festivals. Recently she had a piece
accepted into the Mark of Great Art contest done by Maker's Mark
(www.themarkofgreatart.com) and that piece is currently in Madrid,
Spain. Her t-shirts have made appearances at the St. James Court
Art Fair. She has been involved with Art Sanctuary and the Big
Bone Art Shows. Meanwhile in her studio, she focuses on the next
painting and what she will learn from it.
